America the Polygamist - Passing thought

My final essay on the campaign trial and this year in politics has yet to be written, however, the overwhelming theme is "identity politics" and the shifting attitudes of the American people.
One title I'm playing with is Blacks, Mormons, Women and Gays which pretty much sums the identity culture shift, but, for the moment I want to focus on Polygamy. We all watched in horror as a polygamist compound in Texas was raided. The 1800's garb reflected a culture unfamiliar to us, but polygamy is commonplace in America - just in a different form. When I think of the Playboy masion it occurs to me that it's the most famous polygamous compound in the world, yet no one seems to mind, at least not the ATF.
It's also ironic that Mormons are known for their polygamous past, yet they're some of the most monogamous people on the planet today.
A new nationwide survey, using high-tech methods to solicit candid answers on sexual activity and illegal drug use, finds that 29 percent of American men report having 15 or more female sexual partners in a lifetime, while only 9 percent of women report having sex with 15 or more men.
